Discover A Bite Of Wyoming

A Bite Of Wyoming is a unique spot nestled in the heart of San Jose, California, at 2227 Alum Rock Ave. This restaurant brings a touch of Wyoming to the Bay Area with its comforting, homey atmosphere and hearty dishes that remind diners of the rugged yet warm spirit of the American West. Whether you're craving a fulfilling meal or a quiet place to catch up with friends, A Bite Of Wyoming has something for everyone.

The menu here is an exciting mix of traditional Western fare and some unexpected delights. You’ll find classic American comfort food done right-think perfectly cooked steaks, juicy burgers, and decadent homemade pies. However, there’s more to the menu than just comfort; the culinary team at A Bite Of Wyoming is known for offering a blend of flavors that take inspiration from Wyoming’s natural bounty, from fresh local ingredients to the wild game that is often featured in their specials.

One standout dish that always gets rave reviews is their bison burger. Packed with flavor and a bit of smokiness, it’s a delicious alternative to the usual beef patty. The tenderness and depth of flavor in the bison make it a must-try for anyone visiting. Paired with a side of crispy fries and their house-made ketchup, it's a meal that feels hearty without being too heavy.

For those who prefer a lighter option, the restaurant offers fresh salads topped with local greens, grilled chicken, or even salmon. The salads are vibrant, colorful, and bursting with freshness, balancing the richer offerings on the menu. The portions are generous, ensuring you leave satisfied but not overstuffed.

If you happen to visit during the colder months, the hearty stews and chowders at A Bite Of Wyoming are a perfect choice. These dishes are warming, comforting, and perfect for a rainy day. The beef stew, with its tender chunks of beef and flavorful vegetables, is particularly popular. It’s like being wrapped in a cozy blanket of flavors-simple, satisfying, and soul-nourishing.

Dessert at A Bite Of Wyoming is not to be missed, either. Their homemade pies are a local favorite, particularly the huckleberry pie, which bursts with sweet and tart flavors. Paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s a sweet ending to an unforgettable meal.

The atmosphere at A Bite Of Wyoming is casual and welcoming. It feels like stepping into a cozy cabin in the middle of a Wyoming winter, with wood paneling, rustic decor, and a friendly, attentive staff who make you feel right at home. Whether you're coming for a casual lunch or a relaxed dinner, the vibe here is laid-back and comfortable.

A Bite Of Wyoming has become a local gem in San Jose, praised not only for its delicious food but also for its commitment to quality. • This is a classic casual local diner. We had the Breakfast Special with biscuits & gravy, and the Chicken Fried Steak. Both were quite nice! The gravy was thick and flavorful (a little floury for my preference, but very well seasoned), the biscuits were warm & fluffy. Coffee was good, service was good. Completely unpretentious, straightforward good eats.

  • This is an old school diner that has giant pillowy biscuits and keeps your coffee refilled often. I decided to try something different for breakfast and ordered the buffalo steak. I ordered it medium rare but I think it is hard to cook a steak that thin so it was more rare than medium and no char to speak of. But, that and the two eggs/hasbrowns, kept me well fueled for 7 hours! I took the giant biscuits home and reheated them for another couple meals so I feel like I had good value overall. Definitely would go back!

  • Amazing food! I wish i snapped a picture. We sat at the bar stool area. It was a packed Saturday morning. The gentlemen that was helping up front was attentive and friendly. We had good conversations. Very pleasant experience. Will definitely be back.

  • Ive been coming here as kid with my father. One of the very few memories I have. So to come here as an adult with my kids is a true blessing. The staff is very nice snd the food is always good. This restaurant is an east san jose staple to the community here.

  • As a native South Bay resident, and after 4 and a half decades of eating breakfast all over, I finally made time to try this place out. After hearing about it for so long, and having an idea of what to expect, this five star review is fitting….also, my faith in humanity was slightly restored during my visit…I’ll come back to that. Being decades old and an East San Jose staple, and with its name and decor, I made sure to order a side of gravy for my biscuits, and they weren’t bashful on the bowl of gravy….and the breakfast was tasty with plenty for leftovers…for me today it was the service that I experienced in a couple of cool ways that solidified 5stars. My direct service was friendly, swift and felt like home. The staff was attentive and courteous to say the least. Indirectly I was there to witness a young man who ordered and ate, and after packing his leftovers, asked if he could return in 30 minutes to pay for his meal. Reluctantly the staff said yes and collected his info as he left. While it easily could’ve been a straight up dine and ditch sitch, and the staff seemed to take the high road in allowing the fella to simply leave knowing it could be a loss, sure enough in less than 30 minutes the young man returned and paid in full. This alone contributed to my own feeling about humans and the intent we sometimes have. The feeling I had while watching the workers faces as the dude leaves was miserable (and I almost told them to add his meal to my bill), to my own internal warmth when the dude returned and was a person of their word…this was refreshing and reminded me that good folks are indeed out there. All because I visited a Bite of Wyoming…full belly, snack for later, and faith in humanity.

  • It’s been a while since I’ve eaten here. We ordered the Mama’s Crazy Potatoes. It’s just as before. Sautéed mushrooms, onion, bacon & hash browns topped with cheese and two over medium eggs. Mix this together and add the house salsa. It’s like eating at your Mom’s house. We shared it since we can’t finish two entrees anymore. Saving money too.
